Fall 2025 Highlights:
Nico Lang, celebrated author for LGBTQIA+ issues, spoke about his new Book release American Teenager: How Trans Kids Are Surviving Hate and Finding Joy in a Turbulent Era
Natalia Armanqui, Founder of Kallpa House of Spirit Dances, led an evening of culture, connection and story telling through dance.
World Beyond War hosted several Anti-War Cafes with diverse guest speakers and peace activists
James Morgan from MOSES presented to students on Incarceration Reform
Professor Jordan Vanrijm spoke about the Bahai faith
Annie Laurie Gaylor, founder of Freedom From Religion Foundation, visited The Crossing for an engaging conversation with students

Spring 2026 Highlights:
Justice Casteneda, Executive Director of Commonwealth, Madison spoke about affordable housing and the factors driving Madison housing further out of reach for residents and students
Natalia Amercanqui, from Kallpa House, brought an disability and BIPOC inclusive fashion and art show, which also invited indigenous religious practices and spiritual reflection. More information about this event HERE

A Ramadan Iftar meal in collaboration with the Muslim and Sikh Student Associations
Leading immigration rights attorney, Grant Sovern from the Community Immigration Law Center, spoke top us about the brokenness of U.S. immigration system and the antiquated laws that continue to prevent meaningful reform
Mohamed Qureshi, UW law student and Human Rights Attorney from Kashmir, spoke about his work in Kashmir
Rev. Mike Burch and Sanskrit expert, Prof. Tony Evensen (UW, PhD) led a semester long conversation with students comparing world sacred writings, comparing their origins and content.
Students Against Mass Incarceration spoke powerfully and persusasively. The new student org was formed in 2026 and collaborates closely with The Crossing and Moses, Madison's prison reform advocacy non-profit

Nutrition Access Program supplies free frozen meals in our basement
Food Recovery Network hosts free student meals on Tuesday evenings and Friday afternoons
Slow Food UW hosts low-cost, sustainable meals for the community on Monday evenings and Wednesday afternoons
Students enjoy muffins while they study every Monday morning
The Crossing hosts a weekly Dinner & Dialogue service Wednesday evenings
